Chasing a championship
Coming into the 2017 season in the Limited Sportsman division at Motor Mile Speedway, Karl Budzevski was riding a wave of momentum built up from last season’s 6 wins and 2nd place finish in the championship. Karl started off the 2017 season on a roll, winning three races in a row. Going for number 4 however, Karl would have to start 6th due to the two-in-a-row rule at MMS. Making his way up through the field, bad luck struck Karl once again, looking to put an end to his championship run as his motor blew going down the front stretch. Budzevski was luckily able to save it before backing it into the wall.
The following race Karl would qualify 13th after having issues. He would make a run all the way to 3rd before leaders made contact on the final restart, causing the 13 car to dive in front of Budzevski, sending him back into fifth. This would leave Karl tied with Dillon Houser for the points lead. The following race Karl would again qualify 13th, however this tiem he would not be denied as he gravitated from 13th to the front and was able to pass Brandon Jones with just a few laps left to claim win number four of the season. This race showed trouble for Dillon Houser, and Karl Budzevski was able to gain a 12 point lead over Richard Caldwell with just 2 races left.
With just one race left I would like to say this team’s never-say-die attitude is exactly what it will take to finally secure their first championship.
