Nik Williams rolling in the momentum after 2 top 5 runs at Kingsport Speedway
Nik Williams comes in to Friday night with momentum off a career best 4th place finish. He has improved each race this season and sets 6th in points just 31 out of the lead. This is Nik’s first full season started racing mid season last year after Jeff Maupin had to take a break from racing.
With only gokart experience,Nik was going to have some learning to do in a full body stock car. Talking to Nik about the move up to late model from gokarts .” The hardest part for me is figuring out the braking and how to roll the center of the corner because gokarts you just hold it wide open. I learn something every time I sit in the car.”
Nik has added a new crew chief David Roope two rcars ago and this has really turned the team around with a lot of testing and finding speed in the car and hopefully get them their first win. This really showed last week’s race Nik qualify 7th but had to go to the rear after making adjustment. Quickly making his way to the top ten. Then just started picking them off one by one. “I thought we could have had a 3rd place finish but ran out of time. We had a fast car but we still need to improve on a lot of things.”
Just like Joey Trent, Nik is not one of the names that comes to mind when you talk about front running cars at Kingsport Speedway he is hoping to change that by the end of the season. “We just hope to qualify, and get a top 5 stay consistent “.
