14 year old, Layne Riggs comes in to Short Track National’s at Bristol as the CARS Tour Late Model point leader with 1 win,4 top 5s, and 5 top 10s! The only driver to not finish out side of the top 10 so far, Staying ahead of some the top drivers. Layne says “Yeah it is really exciting and encouraging. We have had some up and down luck so far this season. Hopefully we can continue to come to the track with competitive cars. We are always searching for funding. We are fortunate to have the partners that we already have on the car. A lot of great competitors in the CARS Tour that race hard but respectful.”

Layne made his first start in the CARS Tour last year at Tri-county speedway on his 14th birthday missing a race at Orange Co Speedway where he was In the points battle that let him come up short finishing 2nd points.At the end of last season Layne made his first attempt at Martinsville . But mechanical issues ended his chance after making the race. Talking to Layne about Martinsville and Bristol. “ Hopefully we have sorted out all of our problems and can make a good effort. It sounds like and hopefully will be a big turn out with lots of competition and competitors.”
At the Bristol test Layne ended the day at the top of the standings but didn’t start out there, the team made changes and even the young driver had to make changes to his driving style. But was able to get the fast high banked half mile track figured out, by the end of the day. They are not going to the 2nd test with a. Chance of rain and along drive didn’t want to waste the funding to go back. Plus he is really confident in the car. That they will just wait to tell race weekend.
Last I ask Layne what was his expectations for the weekend. “We want to have a strong qualifying effort. We also hope we can put our self in a good position to have a shot at the win in the end. “
